Tunisia Receives 20 Wounded Gazans for Treatment
(AWP) - Twenty wounded Palestinians arrived in Tunis on Sunday evening as part of Tunisia’s commitment to treating injured people from the Gaza Strip.
A Tunisian military aircraft arrived from Egypt’s al-Arish Airport carrying the 20 wounded Palestinians and their companions before they were taken to hospitals for treatment.
Tunisian President Kais Saied said that “receiving our Palestinian brothers in our country reflects the wishes of Tunisian people” to have them treated in Tunisia, adding that “solidarity is not just in statements but in actual deeds.”
Hael al-Fahum, Palestine’s ambassador in Tunis, in statements to reporters as he received the wounded Palestinians, said, “We are receiving several wounded people for treatment in Tunisia after the Zionist entity destroyed more than 90% of the hospitals and the health sector.”
He noted that the Israeli attacks have left “more than 100 martyrs among the health sector, including doctors and nursing staff.”
Dr Reda al-Dawy, Chairman of the National Council of the Order of Doctors (CNOM) in Tunisia, said some of the wounded are “critical,” and among them are children and young people, adding they will be distributed to private clinics, public hospitals and the military hospital in Tunis for treatment.
Al-Dawy revealed that Tunisia will receive another group that includes 150 wounded Palestinians on Tuesday.
