Three People Wounded in Jerusalem Car Ramming Attack, Israeli Police Say
(AWP) - Three people were wounded in a car ramming attack in West Jerusalem on Monday, Israeli police announced.
The police statement said that the assault was carried out by two people who fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a homemade weapon.
“This morning, at approximately 08:00, a report came in regarding a car accident and the injury of three pedestrians on Techelet Mordechai Street in Jerusalem. Thankfully, the pedestrians sustained only minor injuries,” the statement said.
It continued, “However, the situation took a dangerous turn when two armed terrorists emerged from the vehicle involved in the accident. Despite their attempts, they failed to inflict harm with their weapons and hastily fled the scene.”
Israeli police responded to the incident by mobilising all available Jerusalem District reinforcements to the scene and initiating extensive search operations, the statement confirmed.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority had earlier reported that two people were injured in a suspected ramming attack in Jerusalem.
It added that the car had hit an Israeli and continued driving until it hit a second man at another location.
The Israeli Ambulance Authority said that it provided medical treatment to two people who sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault.
