Mogadishu Beaches Are Somalis’ Favorite Destination for Eid Al Fitr
(AWP) - As amusement parks and movie theaters are still absent in Somalia after the war, the majority of citizens are hitting the beaches during the days of the Eid Al Fitr holiday, including Liido beach in Mogadishu, as well as the Jazeera spa beach, in the southern part of the capital.
Activities have been flourishing on these beaches after improvements in security conditions in the Horn of Africa country, and vacationers can swim, play soccer or take boat rides.
“I came from Yaqshid district to spend some time on the Liido shore on the second day of Eid Al Fitr. Everyone is going to the beaches. There are several services available, including boat rides,” said Abdou Hassan, a Somali man.
Abdullah Ahmed, a child, said he was having a great time on the beach, where various means of entertainment were available.
“I came to the Liido beach with my family. It feels nice, and we are having fun here. We swim and take boat rides. I feel so happy coming here to this beautiful beach,” he added.
Mohamed Mohiyeddin, a Somali man, said that the current stability in Somalia had encouraged people to go to the beaches.
“I congratulate all Muslims, wherever they are, on the occasion of Eid. The homeland is stable. Many people have come to the Liido beach to have a good time during the Eid holiday. We thank God for this beautiful atmosphere,” he noted.
