Israelis Protest Outside Netanyahu’s House Demanding Hostage Release and Early Elections

(AWP) - Israeli protestors have renewed demands on the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to secure the release of citizens taken hostage by Hamas in Gaza since the outbreak of war on October 7.

Hundreds gathered outside Netanyahu’s house in the town of Caesarea to call on him to step down and hold early elections.

Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon addressed the crowd saying, “It is over 211 days now and still 133 abductees are in the hands of Hamas. Those who are detached from reality have brought us to this point. Certainly, they must be replaced as soon as possible. This deranged man is constantly sabotaging the deal – it’s a scandal.”

He added, “Before [Netanyahu] carried out the military operation, he should have brought the captives back home, but he favoured personal interests to public ones. The hostages could have been released and brought home safely, but he chose the opposite. They all must be released now. He neglected the state and its future.”

“A coalition is required now with a plan to put the state back on track. We took to the streets to demand this. We will remain on the streets until the accused is removed from power,” stressed Ya’alon.

Orit, an activist in the ‘Women Wage Peace’ movement, said only agreements can bring peace and called for an end to the war and the immediate return of hostages.

She said, “There are concerns that the deal might not take place as there were earlier deals that were not completed because Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not want that due to personal motives, and this poses a threat to all of us.”
