Israeli Police Say 8 People Wounded in Shooting Near Jerusalem Amid Reports of One Death
(AWP) - Israeli police said on Thursday that eight Israelis were wounded, including three in critical condition, in a shooting at al-Zaeem checkpoint, east of Jerusalem.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that one Israeli was killed in the assault.
Israeli police issued a statement saying that its forces were able to “neutralise” the three attackers who arrived in a car at the al-Zaeem checkpoint and began firing machine guns at cars amid the congested traffic in the area.
The statement added that two of the attackers were “neutralised” immediately, while the third was later chased and consequently shot by the police.
Israeli Army Radio said that the attackers, who carried out their assault near the Israeli settlement of Maaleh Adumim, were from the city of Bethlehem in the West Bank.
