Israeli Army Withdraws from Tulkarm Camp, Leaving 5 Dead

(AWP) - Eyewitnesses and the Palestine TV station reported on Sunday that Israeli army forces withdrew from the Nour Shams Camp in the northern West Bank province of Tulkarm after a 10-hour operation that left five people killed and a large number of Palestinians injured.

Witnesses told the Arab World Press (AWP) that the Israeli army destroyed several houses and infrastructure inside the camp.

Malek Saada, a Palestinian store owner in Nour Shams Camp said, “The army entered here yesterday and raided the camp. Clashes took place in this area. When I returned in the morning, I found that a bulldozer had destroyed my store as well as the adjacent store and the neighbours’ house – nothing but destruction and devastation.”

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation stated that the army attacked with a drone what it said were Palestinian militants who “posed a threat to the army.”

The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported earlier in the day that Israeli forces had launched an attack on the camp during the early hours of Sunday in a raid carried out by drones.

Following the incursion into the camp, the Palestinian health ministry announced that 297 people, including 70 children, have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces since the outbreak of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7.

The total number of fatalities in the West Bank by Israeli army fire reached 505, including 111 children, since the beginning of this year.
