Hundreds of Israeli Settlers Storm Al-Aqsa Mosque Complex Under Police Protection
(AWP) - Hundreds of Israeli settlers have stormed the courtyards of al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem under heavy protection by the Israeli police.
Earlier in the day, eyewitnesses told AWP that Jerusalem is witnessing a major Israeli security alert, with expectations that thousands of settlers will arrive to perform religious rituals at the Western “Buraq” Wall on the Temple Mount, coinciding with the Jewish Passover, which Israelis celebrate this week.
A witness said that thousands of Israeli police officers are deployed in East Jerusalem, with hundreds in the al-Aqsa Mosque vicinity.
Another witness also reported that there were restrictions on Muslims entering al-Aqsa Mosque complex in light of an “unprecedented” state of alert, in addition to the widespread deployment of Israeli ambulance crews.
