Gaza Hospital Director Expects More Casualties Following Israeli Airstrikes on Al-Shati Camp

(AWP) - The director of a hospital in Gaza said, in statements to the Arab World Press (AWP), that dozens of Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Al-Shati refugee camp on Monday evening.

As ambulances carrying casualties from the attack continued to arrive, Dr Mohamed Abu Salmiya, Al-Shifa Medical Complex Director, said dozens of injured people had already been rushed to the hospital for treatment. “A genocide is taking place in Gaza. We are talking 200 martyrs in only 24 hours,” Abu Salmiya said.

Referring to the aid trucks that entered the Gaza Strip via the Rafah border crossing with Egypt in the past couple of days, he said that al-Shifa Hospital has not yet received any medical supplies.

The Gaza Interior Ministry said earlier on Monday that a significant number of people were killed or wounded in “violent” Israeli shelling on several provinces in the enclave.

Israeli raids on a number of inhabited homes in the Al-Shati camp in western Gaza resulted in fatalities and injuries, a fact confirmed by Ashraf al-Qodra, a Gaza Health Ministry spokesman, on his X account (formerly Twitter).

The Interior Ministry also said that ambulances were transporting many dead and wounded people to hospitals.
