Egyptian and Saudi Foreign Ministers Discuss Israel’s War on Gaza

(AWP) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Sunday that he had talks with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in Cairo, on developments in the Palestinian territories amid the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7.

Shoukry made the statements after a session of talks held by the two ministers at the Egyptian Foreign Ministry as part of the meetings of the Egyptian-Saudi Follow-up and Political Consultation Committee.

In a joint press conference with Prince Faisal, Shoukry reiterated calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, stressing that the continuation of the crisis puts the international community at a “critical crossroads.”

Meanwhile, the Saudi Foreign Minister said that he stressed during his talks with Shoukry the need for an immediate ceasefire and the facilitation of humanitarian aid deliveries.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister said the consultations with his Saudi counterpart take on significant importance given the timing – when crises in the region are becoming more complex and pose genuine and serious risks to the countries and peoples of the region.
