Saudi Renewable Energy Institute to Expand Across the Kingdom, Energy Minister Says
(AWP) - Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman announced that the Polytechnic Institute for Renewable Energy, established 16 years ago to provide graduates with expertise in this vital sector, will be expanding across the Kingdom.
In a speech given during the graduation ceremony of 1750 students a few days ago in Dammam, the Saudi minister spoke of the institute’s evolution from a technical entity teaching petroleum services to an energy institute that “reflects the magnitude of transformations taking place in the Kingdom’s energy sector.”
Located in the city of Sakaka, the capital of al-Jawf Province, the institute was founded in 2008 to train its students in renewable energy specialisations to meet the needs of strategic partners operating renewable energy projects in Saudi.
During the ceremony of the institute’s 12th class of graduates, the minister said, “If we believe that our most valuable wealth is the national human element, then it is natural for the institution that prepares and releases those competencies to work in the energy sector to be an integral and essential part of this transformation.”
Local media reported that the ceremony, which was attended by the Governor of the Eastern Province, Prince Saud bin Nayef, witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding with local companies that will contribute to increasing the opportunities available to new trainees with various entities.
