Rockets Fired from Gaza Cause Damage to Residential Building in Ashkelon
(AWP) - TV footage on Monday showed damage to a residential building in the city of Ashkelon which Israelis say was caused by a rocket attack launched from the Gaza Strip.
The Times of Israel newspaper reported today that people were injured in the attack on the cities of Ashdod and Ashkelon by the Palestinian Hamas Movement.
The Israeli paper quoted the Israeli ambulance service Magen David Adom as saying that its crews are working on combing the area following reports of direct rocket hits on the two southern Israeli cities.
Earlier in the day, the Ezz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), announced the launch of 120 rockets on Ashdod and Ashkelon.
The Brigades said that Tel Aviv and Jerusalem were also struck by a barrage of rockets “in response to the shelling of civilian homes.”
Hamas and other Palestinian factions waged a large-scale attack from Gaza on towns and residential areas surrounding the Strip during the early hours of Saturday, killing 800 Israelis.
Israel responded with a military operation that has killed more than 500 Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
