Morocco Hosts the First International Gaming Forum in the Arab World and Africa
(AWP) - Morocco became the first Arab and African country to host an international forum for electronic sports with the launch of Morocco Play Expo 2024 on Tuesday.
Over 50 speakers and hundreds of competing e-gamers are participating in the forum, which kicked off at the Palais des Congrès in Salé, near the capital Rabat.
Organisers said in a statement that participants from 30 countries from around the world competed on the opening day of the forum, which was described as “an opportunity for fans of electronic and entertainment games to communicate directly and exchange ideas.”
The statement added that the participant interaction signifies “a belief in the power of e-sports to inspire, communicate, and create strong bonds between cultures and generations.”
The event represents an opportunity for the participating delegations and countries to learn about the traditions and culture of Morocco, which is preparing to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations and co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
