Israeli Army Hands Out Deck of Playing Cards Mocking Hamas Leaders
(AWP) - A Palestinian physician in the city of Tulkarm, the West Bank, said that the Israeli army has handed out a deck of playing cards depicting the leaders of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) with derisive photos and names.
The cards, displayed by Radwan Blibla, Chairman of the Palestinian Medical Association in Tulkarm, showed prominent Hamas figures, including the movement’s leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar; the movement’s politburo chairman, Ismail Haniyeh; and others, in the shape of animals and with satirical names.
Sinwar tops the Israeli authorities’ list of most wanted persons.
Hamas waged a surprise attack on Israeli towns, settlements and barracks on 7 October, in which Israel said 1,200 people were killed. Since that date, Israel has conducted a fierce military onslaught on the Gaza Strip, where more than 17,000 people have been killed to date, with tens of thousands others wounded.
Blibla noted that the Israeli army soldiers called a medic and handed him this deck of cards. Palestinian journalists in various areas confirmed the army’s distribution of these playing cards.
The U.S. Army handed out a similar deck of cards of most-wanted Iraqi officials during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, with former president Saddam Hussein as the ace of spades.
