Abu Dhabi Exhibitions Showcase Latest Innovations in Unmanned System Technologies and Simulation

(AWP) - The sixth edition of the Unmanned System Exhibition (UMEX) and Simulation Training Exhibition (SimTEX) Conference opened on January 23, showcasing the latest innovations and advanced technologies over three days in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi.

This year’s edition is organised by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC), in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Defence and the strategic partner, the EDGE Group.
UMEX 2024 is attended by 214 local and international companies from 35 countries, representing an increase of 19% over the previous edition.

Ahmed Khoury, the Head of Strategy and Excellence at the EDGE Group, highlighted the growing interest in autonomous and unmanned systems in recent years.

He said, “Our participation in UMEX is very important to us. We have over 70 main and subsidiary products specialising in autonomous systems. We launched three new products at UMEX, including a vertical take-off aircraft, the M-Buggy, and also the Bunker Pro, which is a ground vehicle system that serves the end user in their future operations.”

Eleven countries are participating in UMEX for the first time, and the exhibition includes a diverse range of technological innovations that support civil sectors, including transportation, construction, manufacturing, energy and the economy.

Corporate Communications Manager at Kintsugi, Waleed al-Blooshi, demonstrated several new military-use products exhibited at his company’s pavilion.

“On the first day of the UMEX 2024 exhibition, we launched the Magnus project, which is a hybrid electric military vehicle for individuals. Its features are that it has a driving range of 800 kilometres and weighs six tonnes. Of course, these projects fall under the Kintsugi company.”

The UMEX exhibition will run until January 25, and includes live land and water shows, in addition to aerial shows at Sweihan Hills in the city of al-Ain.
